Jaroslav Rudiš: National Avenue

“The latest premiere of the Feste Theatre from Brno was still carried by the controversial wave caused by the Prague premiere of the retrospective satire on the President, The Burial. National Ave. follows primarily in the way it deals with the relationship between power and morality. Honzírek throws Vandam into a blooshed, he lets him – literally – bathe in blood, get naked and rise from his ashes as the Pheonex to become ‘instructed about life’ even better. The moral apathy becomes an active help/power thanks to a strong attack. But at what price?”
